MAKESHIFT THEATER BEGINS 25-26 SEASON AT HISTORIC COACH HOUSE VENUE

After completing extensive renovations to the historic carriage house theater at 732 West Exchange Street, Makeshift Theater will officially launch its new permanent home at the Coach House. This home for the nonprofit theater company promises to bring vibrant theatrical productions to the Akron community for years to come.

The venue, commonly known to local theater enthusiasts as “Coach House” has a rich history of theatrical performances in Akron. “This agreement represents a significant milestone for our organization.”said Jane Bond, president, Makeshift Theater. “Having a dedicated performance space will allow us to expand our programming and further our mission of bringing quality theatrical experiences to the Akron community.”

The carriage house is located on the southwest portion of the AWCC Estate, a five-acre property in Akron’s vibrant West Hill neighborhood. Makeshift Theater will revitalize the historic structure while preserving its architectural integrity and cultural significance.

The Akron Woman’s City Club has been a cornerstone of Akron’s cultural landscape, and this partnership continues its legacy of supporting the arts in Summit County. “We’re honored to work with the Akron Woman’s City Club on this exciting venture,” Bond added. The Coach House has been a beloved venue for theater productions in the past, and we look forward to honoring that tradition while bringing our creative vision to the space.
